Louis XVI Revival (1860s)
Some Rococo Revival pieces were based on French eighteenth-century Louis XVI styles. Many cabinetmakers working in New York City during the 1860s were Frenchmen who had recently come to America. Names like Marcotte, Roux, and Baudouine were common. This style of furniture often used ebonized maple or light fruitwood.
