To a large group of antique collectors, the word “Staffordshire” means printed dishes that were usually blue and white. If you go to your library to get a book about Staffordshire ware, it is likely that most of the books on that subject will discuss these printed plates while some will discuss the Victorian portrait figures and only a few will cover the early English wares made in eighteenth-century Staffordshire.
