The studio potter was usually a single person or at most a group of fewer than five people. Some were artists who had worked for the larger art potteries in their waning days. Little has been written about the smaller potteries, so collectors who become acquainted with local studio potters should be able to find bargains in the works of “undiscovered artists.” A few, however, are already well known to collectors.
