Women’s Art Getting More Recognition

Look for the value of art made by women, early paintings, silver pieces, pottery, quilts and other handwork to go up in price. Many museums are now organized exhibits of the art that has lone been ignored. Women were not allowed in art schools, were forbidden from drawing nude models, could rarely travel alone, and, if married to an artist, was expected to support his work, not hers. To get art training and sales they needed a male family member artist, or friend to help. Rosa Boheur, Mary Cassatt, and Berthe Morisot are a few of the women artists whose talent is now being recognized.
