Pokémon First Edition Base Set Sells for Hundreds of Thousands

A sealed booster box, Pokémon First Edition Base Set, sold for $360,000 in a March 2021 sale by Heritage Auctions. Pokémon, also known as Pocket Monsters in Japan, is a Japanese media and game franchise managed by The Pokémon Company, a company founded by Nintendo. Released on Jan. 9, 1999 by Wizards of the Coast, the set included 102 cards, including the popular Charizard card.
