Comic Book Price Flies High at Heritage

A Fantastic Four No. 1 comic from 1961 sold for $264,000 in an April sale by Heritage Auctions. The Marvel comic, graded 9 out of 10 in quality, was the first appearance of the Fantastic Four, Marvel’s first superhero team—Mr. Fantastic, the Thing, the Human Torch, and Invisible Girl. The cover was drawn by artist Jack Kirby, an American comic book artist who helped create hundreds of original characters, including Captain America, the Incredible Hulk, and the Fantastic Four.
