A junked 1961 99SL Classic Mercedes-Benz convertible sold for $800,000 “as is.” It is one of 101 cars originally ordered. The car that was sold was found in the Florida woods. It was rusted, with a torn interior, ripped and moldy seats, and only the frame of the convertible top. The engine and other parts were also rusted and brittle. The original bill of sale, owner’s manual, and other paperwork was included. It was sold by the Beverly Hills Car Club that understood its rarity.
