Woman Suing NASA Over Moon Dust

A woman in Kansas is suing NASA to make sure she has ownership of a vial of moon dust given to her daughter by Neil Armstrong, the first man to set foot on the moon. He was a friend of the family. A note says, “To Laura Ann Murray / Best of Luck / Neil Armstrong Apollo 11.” The government claims that all moon dust belongs to them. There was a lawsuit in 2016 that determined the moon dust in a bag purchased at a government auction by a collector was legally the buyer’s. The dust sold for $1.8 million.
