A stoneware water cooler sold for $483,000 at a Crocker Farm auction in Maryland in fall 2015, setting a world record price for American stoneware . The seven-gallon water cooler is attributed to Henry Remmey, Jr. or Sr., of Baltimore, 1812–1829. It’s decorated in cobalt blue with a deeply incised federal eagle that has spread wings, a shield across its chest, and talons holding olive branches and arrows.
