In 1937, Shiny Brite ornaments were made at the Corning Glass Company using a process they developed for making light bulbs. Clear glass bulbs were made for Max Eckhardt, who started Shiny Brite and had the glass decorated by hand. The first ornaments had a metal cap and loop with a hook attached to the loop. During World War II, they had a cardboard tab that was tied to the tree with string. After the war, Shiny Brite used a long hook that went through the bottom of the glass. This feature was discontinued in 1960. Shiny Brite ornaments were reissued by Christopher Radko in 2001.
