Collectors have started collecting old fountain pens again. They were first made in the late 1800s, and improved in the 1920s and ’30s when they could be filled more easily. It was a fashionable hobby in the 1980s, then people lost interest. But now the vintage pens are selling. Look for celluloid pens and 1902 Waterman vulcanized rubber pens. Best designs for pens were from the 1920s to 1950s. I had a Parker 51 with a sterling silver overlay with a cutout of my name. The pen case broke. There was no way to use the silver decoration, but I saved it. Visit the Pen Collectors of America (PCA) website for lots of information and the dates of pen shows.
