Swiss architect Pierre Jeanneret designed a chair with a cane seat and back in the 1950s. The chairs were made for use in India. The V-shaped legs were made of bug resistant teak. The chairs remained popular for years, but eventually, many were discarded. A group of French dealers started to buy and restore these discarded chairs. In 2016, they took a group of the refinished chairs to an important art show. Both the originals and the restored chairs are selling again.
