Actor Lew Anderson, also known as Clarabell the Clown, died in May. He was on The Howdy Doody Show for years, but spoke only once. On the last show in 1960 he said, “Goodbye, kids.” Clarabell was played by three actors over the 13-year lifespan of the show. Anderson, the third, took over the role in 1954.
