An eclectic look in dining rooms means it’s OK to use different chairs around the table. Just make sure they’re comfortable and that a diner sitting in one can pull up close to the table. The New York Times featured the idea in its Oct. 23, 2014, issue, which quotes a designer: “The idea of going into a furniture or antiques store and buying a table and matching chairs is over.”
