It's news when an auctioned piece of jewelry sells for 12 times estimate. An eye-shaped pin holding a watch, designed by surrealist painter Salvador Dali for his wife, sold for $148,800 (96,000 British pounds) in July 2013 at Dreweatts auction in Newbury, Berkshire, England. The 3-inch pin has a gold and blue enamel watch in the center surrounded by platinum and diamonds. It was made in 1949 by a New York jeweler.
