Indoor air quality is better if your floors are wooden rather than carpeted, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Wooden floors are also "greener," because less water and energy are used when they're made than when carpet is manufactured. Wooden furniture is probably better for air quality than upholstered pieces, too. And growing plants in vintage containers you're reusing also improves the air.
