Q: I got this musical Santa doll on my first birthday 49 years ago. He has his original suit, scarf and hat. The label calls him “Baby Santa” made by Knickerbocker, New York. A key-wound music box is hidden in the doll’s back. Tell me more about my Santa. — C.V., Raleigh, N.C.

A: The Knickerbocker Doll & Toy Co. was founded in New York City in 1925 by Leo L. Weiss. Knickerbocker made good-quality dolls out of cloth, composition and vinyl until it was sold to Hasbro in 1983. Knickerbocker made Baby Santa dolls in several different styles. Your 1950s doll, with a music box inside, sells today for about $20.
