Q: I have an antique Mickey Mouse bank I’m interested in getting appraised and/or selling. It says “For coins” above the coin slot and “And bills” below it. It is also marked “Zell Prods. Co., N.Y.”

A: Mickey Mouse first appeared in a Disney short film in 1928. He began appearing in a comic strip in 1930. This bank was made for Disney about 1933. It came in different colors and had a lock on the bottom that opened with a key. The book-shaped bank came in a box. Zell Products made leather-covered metal advertising metal banks for many companies during the 1930s and into the 1950s. Value of your bank is about $125 to $150. The original box would add about $100.
