Q: After my grandfather died, I found three Delft tiles from a KLM Business Class collection. One pictures a yacht, one a sawmill, and one a Frisian watermill. The paperwork which is dated 1986, shows nine tiles in each of four categories: Mills, Handicrafts, Ships, and Child’s Games. The tiles are in good condition with the original packaging and a certificate of authenticity. How much are these tiles worth? Are collectors interested in them?

A: KLM, Royal Dutch Airlines, gave Delft tiles to its Business Class passengers from 1981 until the early 1990s. The first series, issued in 1981 and 1982, pictured unique gables on historic Dutch houses. Later series picture houses and other buildings, famous paintings, or commemorated special events. The tiles sell online for about $15 each.
