Hall Teapot

Q: This teapot has been in the family for years. It’s cobalt blue with gold trim and is marked “Hall’s China” on the bottom. There is a small chip under the spout. I’d like to know the value “as is” or if I should have it repaired.

Your teapot is the Boston shape, which was made in several sizes. Gold decorated teapots were made beginning in 1920. Cobalt blue Boston teapots were made in solid color and also with three different styles of gold decoration. Your teapot has the “standard gold” decoration. It’s not worth the money it would take to fix the chip. Value of your teapot, about $40.
