Q: I have a Hall Silhouette teapot in excellent condition, but it has a clear glass lid. I’ve searched all over trying to find another one with a glass lid and can’t find one. Do you know if Hall ever produced a teapot with the glass lid? It fits perfectly on the pot.
A: You have a Silhouette coffeepot, not a teapot. Hall made this pattern in the 1930s. The coffeepot originally had a matching ceramic lid with a band around the bottom and a band on the pointed finial. The lid you have is from something else. Lids often get broken or are missing. This coffeepot with an original lid is worth about $100. Without the lid, it’s worth about half that.
Lids do turn up, but meanwhile that would be an adorable kitchen utensil holder or vase. The lid looks familiar, like it belongs to a glass coffee percolator.
