Q: I was recently given a pair of vases that my 83-year-old cousin remembers seeing in her grandmother’s house. The vases are 10 inches tall with an oval bottom. Both the roses and the vase are the same orangey beige color. There is a beautiful rose with leaves on the front. The vase is covered in sand except for the flower. A local antiques dealer said they were unusual because the sand was pressed into the material and not mixed with the paint and painted on. Can you tell me anything about their origin and possible value?
