Q: I would like some information about a pool table I bought about 40 years ago. I was told it came from a pool hall in downtown Chicago, where it was used during the Depression. It’s made of bird’s-eye maple with inlaid wood designs on all four sides. The pockets are leather. Four pieces of 1 1/2-inch-thick slate form the top. A “Sydney Laner & Co.” plaque is on the side bumper.
