Q: What was this mystery object used for? It is almost 4 inches high and 1 1/2 inches in diameter. It’s marked on the bottom “Simpson Hall Miller & Co.” in a circular shape, with the words “Quadruple Plate” in the center of the circle. The number 34 is stamped below the circle. It has a very pretty floral design all over. It seems too tall for a needle case or matchstick case, unless those items were longer than they are today, and a bit too short for a cigarette case.
