Silver is listed by material, such as coin, plate, or sterling; by some major manufacturers, such as Tiffany; by the type of item, such as candlesticks, jewelry, and napkin rings; or by country of origin. Countries throughout the world have their own unique silver styles, traditions, and marks. Anglo-Indian silver is listed here. This silver was made in India for the British colonial market or by British-born silversmiths from the seventeenth century onward. Most dates to the nineteenth century and shows influence from Victorian English styles. India achieved independence in 1947. Other examples may be listed under Silver-Indian.
