Toothbrush Holders

Kovels Item

Toothbrush holders were part of every bowl and pitcher set in the late nineteenth century. Most were oblong covered dishes. About 1920, manufacturers started to make children's toothbrush holders shaped like animals or cartoon characters. Immanuel Speidel was issued the first U.S. patent for a toothbrush holder in 1925. A few modern toothbrush holders are still being made.
