Buffalo Pottery

Buffalo Pottery was made in Buffalo, New York, beginning in 1901. The company was established by the Larkin Company, famous manufacturers of soap. The wares are marked with a picture of a buffalo and the date of manufacture. Deldare ware is the most famous pottery made at the factory. It has either a khaki-colored or green background with hand-painted transfer designs. The company reorganized in 1956 and was renamed Buffalo China before being bought by Oneida Silver Company in 1983. Oneida sold the company to Niagara Ceramics in 2004 but Oneida still sells a few lines of Buffalo China dinnerware. For more information, explore our identification guides for American pottery.
