Buttonhooks

Buttonhooks

Buttonhooks have been a popular collectible in England for many years but are not as popular in America. Buttonhooks are often thought to be as old as buttons themselves, but the earliest written records date back to 1611. The buttonhooks were made to help fasten the many buttons of the old-fashioned high-button shoes and other items of apparel. They are still used by those with limited use of hands or arms.
