Other Specialty Clocks

The Egyptian Revival style became popular at the end of the nineteenth century. Sphinx heads and mummy cases became fashionable decorations for some mantel clocks. Often the clock had matching obelisks that were displayed on each side.

By 1900 the tambour, a simple, round-faced mantel clock with an elongated curved wooden case, appeared.
