A mint, unopened copy of the game just sold for $114,000 at Heritage Auctions, breaking the previous record at the auction house for a Super Mario Bros. game in similar condition that brought $100,150. The game was the first in the popular Super Mario Bros. series. This copy was part of a short production run of the game packaged in boxes with a cardboard hang-tab underneath the plastic, an indication that it was part of the first produced after Nintendo started using shrink-wrap to seal the games.
