1988 Seoul Summer Olympics – Acquired a leather and swede case with a metal logo in the center of the lid, metal hinges and metal drop catch. Inside are 28 plastic encased gold colored rectangular ingots. Each ingot has the representation of the 27 sports attended by the contestants. The 28th has the Olympic symbol and Seoul 1988. The back of each 28 has a miniature Olympic logo repeated over the whole surface. The outer case is cornflower blue leather with matching cornflower blue swede inside. Each ingot sits in a custom slot. Each ingot weighs with plastic case 20.7 grams. A density test suggests that they are gold clad. The leather case is approx. 15.75″ x 11.5″ x 1″. Everything looks VERY well made. Have tried to search the internet with no success. Contacted the Olympic committee which informed me that they did not have a clue and tried the Cooperative Extension with a local University with no success. There are no manufacturers marks nor any other identifying information anywhere on the ingots or case. Looking for ANY information available.
