A 10-inch-tall decorated stoneware jug with two handles sold for $138,000 at a March Crocker Farm auction in Sparks, Md. The incredible decoration was a memorial for Benjamin Herington, a potter who drowned in 1823. Birds, flowers, a star, a heart, an urn, initials and dates were incised on the jug and colored blue. The jug was recently found in a closet in California.
