Dear Lee,

It’s finally here. The day we decide the newsletter needs a new look, some new features and columns. You will still find the fact-filled reports and suggestions that have been part of Kovels on Antiques and Collectibles for 41 years. There have been changes along the way. Perhaps the most peculiar was our name change from “Collectables” to “Collectibles” because the dictionary writers said that was the modern way the word was spelled. This time we are changing to accommodate new technology. IPads, iPhones, eBooks, and computers all have their own “language” and we have to do it their way. Over the next few months you will see some new features and new writers, along with the familiar sale reports, color pictures, prices, collectors’ questions, and expert advice for collectors who want to buy, sell or capture the history of their heirlooms. Our new editor is divine, literally, Danielle Devine, and she has impressive experience editing and writing in our world of collecting. So enjoy the fresh look and content of Kovels’—cleaner, modern, easier to read and use for research—yet still filled with prices, new collecting trends and changes in the market. The newsletter will still be a friend, but one that has a new coat of paint and some unexpected surprises.
