Bakelite

Bakelite buyers must be sure to check condition. Avoid any obvious chips, cracks, crazes, pits, scrapes, scuffs, or fading. Run your fingernail over the edges to check for tiny chips, and look out for internal cracks. Any type of crack is the worst kind of damage, because eventually it will break. Scrapes and scuffs cannot be buffed off without damaging the patina.
