An orphan earring can still be used. Have a jeweler make it into a stickpin, a tie tack, a charm for a bracelet or a ring. If it is a clip-on, use it like a lapel pin. If it is for a pierced ear, attach it through the knit of a sweater. Some earrings can be hung in the center of a strand of pearls, an old-fashioned adaptation of the new “pearl enhancers.”
