Pewter Wedding Cup 5 Months, 3 Weeks ago
Hi, was wondering is someone might be able to help. We obtained a cup a couple of years ago when my husbands grandfather passed away. I researched it then, but unfortunately didn't write it down, and my memory is failing me! We had a house fire three weeks ago, and are currently making a list of personal property for insurance. While most of the cup melted, I was able to located most of the bottom still intact. The markings I can see are: a dove, a M inside a circle, the word Etain, a crown with what looks like a flower in the center, and II (looks like the roman numeral 2).

When we received the cup, it had a small brochure inside of it with the name of the maker (from Germany or Switzerland maybe??), but that didn't survive the fire.

All I can say for sure is it's made of pewter, was listed as an upscale gift to give to a bride and groom, and believe it's pretty old. The outside of the cup had engravings/etchings.

Thanks, and sorry for not knowing more details! Leslie

Never seen anything like this:

Any thoughts? Looks to be more of 1920's.
