We were surprised to see new fabric for sale online that’s identical to an antique textile we bought years ago. The fabric, originally made in 1892-93 for the Chicago World’s Fair, honors the 400th anniversary of Christopher Columbus’s landing in the New World. The new fabric sells for $8.50 a yard. Reproductions of all sorts of old textiles are available from Windham Fabrics (WindhamFabrics.com) and Old Trinity Schoolhouse Quilt Shop (TrinityQuilts.com). Other reproduction fabrics include antique floral patterns as well as historical textiles. The fabrics are used by quilters and others who want a vintage look.
