Poole Pottery Poole Pottery

Poole Pottery was founded by Jesse Carter in 1873 in Poole, England, and has operated under various names since then. The company operated as Carter & Co. for several years and established Carter, Stabler & Adams as a subsidiary in 1921. The company specialized in tiles, architectural ceramics, and garden ornaments. Tableware, bookends, candelabra, figures, vases, and other items have also been made. Artists Harold and Phoebe Stabler started working at Poole in 1911 and designed an unusual series of pottery figures, bookends, candelabra, and dinnerware with colored glazes that were produced into the 1930s. The name Poole Pottery Ltd. was taken in 1963. The company went bankrupt in 2003, but is in business today with new owners.
