Derby Derby

Derby has been marked on porcelain made in the city of Derby, England, since about 1748. The original Derby factory closed in 1848, but others opened there and continued to produce quality porcelain. The Crown Derby mark began appearing on Derby wares in the 1770s. King George III allowed the company to use a crown in their mark in 1775; Queen Victoria also approved the crown and granted the company the title "The Royal Crown Derby Porcelain Company."
