Bauer pottery is a California-made ware. J.A. Bauer bought Paducah Pottery in Paducah, Kentucky, in 1885. He moved the pottery to Los Angeles, California, in 1909. The company made art pottery after 1912 and introduced dinnerware marked Bauer in 1930. The factory went out of business in 1962 and the molds were destroyed. Since 1998, a new company, Bauer Pottery Company of Los Angeles, has been making Bauer pottery using molds made from the original Bauer pieces. The pottery is now made in Highland, California. Most pieces are marked “2000.” Original pieces of Bauer pottery are listed here. See also the Russel Wright category.
