Arita Arita

Arita is a port in Japan. Porcelain was made there from about 1616. Arita ware in the early seventeenth century usually had underglaze blue designs similar to Chinese Ming styles. Many types of decorations were used, including the popular Imari designs, which are listed in the Imari category.
