Patent Models

Patent models were required as part of a patent application for a United States patent until 1880. The Patent Act of 1790 required a miniature model of each invention be made that showed how the invention works. In 1926 the stored patent models were sold as a group by the U.S. Patent Office and individual models are appearing in the marketplace.
