Halloween is an ancient holiday that has changed in the last 200 years. The holiday is a combination of Celtic practices, European folk traditions, and Roman religious rituals. The jack-o'-lantern, witches on broomsticks, and orange decorations seem to be twentieth-century creations. Collectors started to become serious about collecting Halloween-related items in the late 1970s. The papier-mache decorations, now replaced by plastic, and old costumes are in demand.
