Steuben

Steuben glass was made at the Steuben Glass Works of Corning, New York. The factory, founded by Frederick Carder and T.G. Hawkes, Sr., was purchased by the Corning Glass Company. They continued to make glass called Steuben. Schottenstein Stores Inc. bought 80 percent of the business in 2008. The factory closed in 2011. Aurene, a velvety iridescent glass, remains one of the most popular of Steuben's early products. Many types of art glass were made at Steuben. Additional pieces may be found in the Aurene, Cluthra, and Perfume Bottle categories.
