Cameo glass was made in much the same manner as a cameo in jewelry. Parts of the top layer of glass were cut away to reveal a different colored glass beneath. The most famous cameo glass was made during the nineteenth century. Cameo glass was made in Bohemia, the United States, England, and France, and usually featured classical designs if made in England and art-nouveau style flowers and plants if made in France. Signed cameo glass pieces are listed under the glasswork's name, such as Daum or Galle.
