Batman and Robin are characters from a comic strip by Bob Kane that started in 1939. In 1966, the characters became part of a popular television series. Batman was the first live-action series. It lasted for 120 episodes and starred Adam West and Burt Ward. There are radio and movie serials that featured the comic-strip pair. The first full-length movie was made in 1989. The most recent Batman film series directed by Christopher Nolan and starring Christian Bale has brought increased popularity to the Batman franchise.
