Arts/crafts lidded stoneware ewer--need ID please? 2 Months, 3 Weeks ago
The only mark on it is on the bottom "216/29" but there is no maker's mark otherwise. It's a beautiful piece, about 12 inches high and 7 inches in diameter at the widest point. The pewter lid is hinged. The colors are reddish brown at the top and handle, graduating to greenish blue then cobalt blue with a white pattern, then transitioning back to the reddish brown at the bottom. There are darker greenish rings around the base of the neck and base of the bottom.

Any thoughts on who made this one? Thanks so much in advance!

Hi, This is a stab at the maker of your item. It very much resembles pottery from Germany or W. Germany made by Dumbler & Breiden especially the different shades of color. The pieces I have seen have the numbers like yours but also Germany or W. Germany below the numbers, but maybe not all pottery has the country mark. I think this pottery is sold at or was at the Pottery Barn. There is a lot on different web sites by google Dumbler & Breiden. The pewter lid just reminds me it might be German. See what you think.

It is a modern copy of a 16th century English/German? piece- There is actually a dealer in London with a real one.
The real one was at the Ceramic Fair in New York past January. Quality piece but modern.

Thank you for the clue. Do you happen to remember which dealer had the original? I would love to see it if there are photos out there. Thanks again.
