S.G.K. Moriyama Allied Forces mark 3 Months, 4 Weeks ago
I have an oval pottery dish with the marks S.G.K. Moriyama Allied Forces on the bottom. it's about 6 inches long, 4 inches at it's widest point, orange dogwood type flowers and an orange stripe around the top.
I think Moriyame was a department store and the S.G.K. is the makers mark, but why the Allied Forces mark?
appreciate any help

Hi, Your bowl was made in Japan, Moriyama is in Japan, SGK is the initials of the company. After ww2 in 1950 or 51 all imports coming from Japan had to be marked (occupied) or Allied Forces meaning The U. S. A. servicemen were occupying that country. Your bowl would be worth a little more than usual because of that mark.
