The Wedgwood Museum's collection of Wedgwood pottery and industrial archives was to be sold to fund the closed company’s pensions, but more than 7,000 private donations totaling $4.38 million saved the "Wedgwood Collection." The collection includes ceramics, works of art, and photographs from the past 250 years. The collection will be gifted to England's Victoria and Albert Museum, but it will continue to be displayed at the Wedgwood Museum in Barlaston, Staffordshire, England.

This is great news about the Wedgwood collection.
However, the use of the word “gifted” as a verb is
really, really bad.
The collection was given as a gift.
