Chandeliers, Brown Furniture

"What is going up in value in the collectibles market?" is the question we are most often asked. Here are two suggestions. Large chandeliers, especially those made of glass or with many glass prisms, are selling for less than new ones. Wooden drop-front desks—what dealers call "brown furniture" from the late 1700s and early 1800s—are at a very low price. A good, but not great, maple desk from New England can be found for $300 to $500, less than a new desk from Ikea.
